No real matter what shape you decide on for a table, you should allow at least three feet between your table edge and an obstruction just like a server or wall. This gives sufficient space for folks to move round the table, and in and out using their seats. On the other hand, more than six feet remaining between one wall or obstruction and the table means that the set is too small.
When you purchase your table, you might like to look into table pads as well. Table pads tend to be felt-covered on the trunk side and vinyl on the top surface. They are usually covered over with a table cloth when used. The pads protect the table top from hot dishes and moisture and can significantly prolong the life of your dining set.If going for table pads, look at a protection plan like Protection First. Furniture that's worth buying is worth protecting and such an idea will help you care for your investment to ensure that little mishaps don't cause a major eyesore.
