No matter what shape you decide on for a table, you should allow at least three feet between your table edge and an obstruction such as a server or wall. This provides sufficient space for people to move across the table, and in and out from their seats. Alternatively, more than six feet remaining between one wall or obstruction and the table means that the set is too small.
Formal Dining - If you have a larger home or have a tendency to do a lot of entertaining, a more formal table may suit your design aesthetic. Select a large table with a dark wood for a traditional and upscale look or choose an elegant set with grand tufted chairs and ornate woodwork to impress your guests. If you prefer a newer look, an all-white design will exude the modern-day sophistication you crave.
