Chairs shouldn't be rickety or wobble. In the event the chair has a padded seat, the corners should be reinforced with screwed-in (not glued) corner blocks. Padded seats should be removable so that the cover can be changed. Fabric covered chairs might not exactly be appealing if you have small children who are messy eaters. Leather is a great option for quick cleanup, as is stain resistant microfiber upholstery. Slip covers on Parson's chairs are another easily cleaned option for the dining area.
If you can't find the perfect dining area table set in a store, consider creating your own by mixing and matching a table and chairs. Take into account that not absolutely all tables are created equal rather than all chairs will fit at your selected table. When creating your own set, it's important to make sure that you roughly 12 inches of space between your seat of the chair and the table. This amount of space will fit most people comfortably which is the most common gap used by furniture manufacturers.
