When looking for dining area decorating ideas, understand that you don't want to overwhelm this refined space with too much clutter. However, simple does not mean plain, and this is an area where you may take some stylistic liberties. When decorating dining rooms, think about color schemes (after choosing your table, of course!). Usage of color really can make or break dining area designs, and the cohesion of any matching furniture set permits colorful decor choices. Try light blue or gray walls for a stylish look, or go timeless with a black and white theme. If you want to adhere to white paint, throw in some gold or copper accents, or splashes of bright colors to keep it interesting; geometric patterns, custom-painted ceilings and unique wallpapers are also effective at livening up a dining area.
Dining area furniture is often bought from five piece sets. Occasionally retailers will run promotions which include two arm chairs as well. You should buy at least two more chairs than you think you'll need. Holiday entertaining and family gatherings can send you scrambling for seating to support everyone. If you buy the extra chairs at the outset you can make certain that they fit with the table. The excess chairs can continually be used as accents chairs in other rooms if you are not entertaining.
