If you can't find the perfect dining room table occur a store, consider creating your own by mixing and matching a table and chairs. Keep in mind that not all tables are manufactured equal and not all chairs will fit at your preferred table. When creating your own set, it's important to make sure that you roughly 12 inches of space between your seat of the chair and the table. This amount of space will fit most people comfortably and it is the most frequent gap used by furniture manufacturers.
Select a table created from sturdy stuff. If you want a table to last through years of dinner party wear and tear, choose a table made from a hardwood, such as mahogany, walnut, maple, oak and teak. Tables created from engineered or composite woods, such as plywoods and MDF, are durable and economical but are never as strong as a hardwood.
